Documenting Daily Life: Indoor Gardening Tips and House Plant Care ✨
Good morning everyone! How are you doing today? I’ve had a thought that I want to share with you all—I’m going to start documenting my daily life as a gardener. You wouldn’t believe how many project videos I’ve piled up! Some might take a month or two to process since they don’t depend on the weather, but I just realized that I’ve got winter videos now that might not be relevant anymore. If you happen to live in Argentina, however, those could come in handy! I’ll be uploading content that suits us all, and I can’t wait for you to see the many projects I’ve been working on.
My Gardening Workspace
To kick things off, this is the first time I’m entirely showing you where I work—yes, it’s a bit chaotic right now! Just the other day, I bought a dustpan, because mine outside broke. But, let’s dive into some exciting projects!
Guzmania Bromeliads
Let’s discuss the Guzmania bromeliads. A dear friend who worked with me on plants informed me that this plant is semi-epiphytic. This means the substrate we often use for other plants won’t quite work for them. Interestingly, I’ve seen these in Colombia and various Asian countries perched atop tree canopies! My friend managed to rescue one, and I can’t wait to show you the progress, along with some updates on my Anthurium.
Experimenting with Potting Mix
This poor Anthurium has been through the rain, and I’m thinking about giving it a drink—plant care is truly my passion! Since I like to jump from project to project, I need to manage my time better. I’ll be repotting my Guzmania with pine bark, expanded clay, and possibly coconut fiber. It’s a little experiment on whether it thrives with a new setup!
Setting Up My Terrace
Speaking of projects, I’ve finally set up my terrace! I still haven’t made the grand tour video pre-spring yet, but it’s rather spacious! From my kitchen, I brought organic waste like strawberry tops and pepper remnants for composting. I’ve got a box where I’ll store organic waste daily to maintain a healthy composting process at home.
Composting at Home ♻️
To prevent odors, I diligently bring this compost to my composter every day or every other day. It has been raining nonstop, so I’ve had to wait to continue working. Let me show you my orchid, which I received as a gift right after returning from Asia. It was in plastic for what feels like ages but it’s looking perfect! Look at the roots; they’re still a vibrant shade of white.
Orchid Care
As a tip, when all an orchid’s roots turn a bright green, it’s time to water; until then, hold off! The large vase you see? It’s the most massive bouquet I’ve ever encountered! I’ve prepared a video on how to use these flowers creatively, having made several arrangements from them already. It’s such a joy to work with plants, and during this pre-spring period, I aim to share useful gardening advice!
More Projects and Plant Care Tips
- Cactus Care: My Christmas cactus is thriving! The transplant regrets have passed, and it’s just fabulous now.
- Propagation Techniques: I recently started propagating an adiantum. If you’re unfamiliar, the leaves on these beauties are called fronds!
- Indoor Plant Lighting: Optimal light is crucial for healthy plants, especially in smaller indoor spaces.
Exploring Vertical Garden Solutions
The pot we’re working with is massive, and it’s fun to experiment with naming and lighting schemes. I’ve used a creative resource—a nail from a hardware store—enabled me to support my pothos plants without breaking them. It’s a practical solution worth considering!
The Joys of Ficus and Other Plants
As spring approaches, I’m always tempted to move my Ficus outside. However, keeping an eye on the temperature is essential, as the last cold snaps can be a detriment to our green friends!
Sustainable Gardening Practices
Another project I’m eager to dive into is my Polia from IKEA, which hasn’t been repotted yet. By the way, I received a lovely African violet as part of a mixed plant composition. After separating them, they’re all thriving!
Conclusion: Let’s Keep Growing Together!
Today was busy, and I’ve made notable progress, but there’s still plenty to share! It excites me to think about all the projects I’ll be uploading soon. If these types of videos inspire you, please give a thumbs up and subscribe for notifications on all my upcoming projects.
Thank you for your company, and I hope you have a restful night’s sleep full of sweet dreams. Until next time, happy gardening!
